Secured Features Introduction
What are the secured features for?
The secured features of Apollo Pro make it easier and quicker for the user to logon to various Oracle servers, as well as provide extra security measures at the users workstation.
How do the secured features work?
The secured features work by storing an encrypted password on the users computer. This password is used to control access to various features such as remembering the logon list and locking Apollo Pro.
Are the secured features safe to use?
Yes. Both the password and all secured data are encrypted using one of the strongest encryption algorithms available.
Help! I forgot my password!
If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it by choosing the Options|Reset Password menu item. This will reset the password to blank, and turn off the secured features. By using this option, you will lose all saved account information. It is not possible to retrieve encrypted information without knowing the password.
Enabling the secured features
To enable the secured features for the first time, you must set two default options. Go to the Options|Defaults... menu. This brings up the Options Window. Along the left hand side, first choose the "Enable Security" option. Set this value to True and click the Set button.
Next, choose the "Secure Password" option. You will be asked for a password in order to change the setting. If you have not already set a password (such as on a new install, or after resetting the password), leave the password blank and press OK. You can now enter the password you wish to use. You must retype the same password into both boxes, to ensure that you did not mistype. Click Set, and your password is saved.
Now, you may enable the "Save Logon List" option, or any other security option you wish. The next time you start Apollo Pro, you will be prompted for the password you set. After entering the correct password, you will have access to all the secured features in Apollo Pro.
